The Portuguese public broadcaster RTP has requested a meeting with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to clarify the incidents that occurred during the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2024 final in Malmö.

In Tuesday’s broadcast of Telejornal, the Portuguese public broadcaster reported the request for this meeting with the organization. It was a “request supported by several countries, such as France, Spain, Croatia, and Norway”.

One of the issues concerns the delay in publishing the video of the Portuguese representative, iolanda, whose nails featured Palestinian motifs.

The ESC 2024 was marked by various controversies. The Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS reported an unsafe environment, while Norway’s representatives, Gåte, considered withdrawing until the last moment. Additionally, Silvester Belt from Lithuania described a “traumatic experience in the final.

It should be noted that RTP’s request for this meeting follows an internal meeting with the delegation, initiated by the Chairman of the Board, Nicolau Santos.
