One of the cities potentially interested in hosting the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2025 is Saint Gallen, near the micro-state of Liechtenstein… which is keen to explore a collaboration with the Swiss city.
Matthias Ulrich, the Head of Liechtenstein Marketing, revealed to Radio Liechtenstein that there is an openness to support Saint Gallen within the scope of a tourism partnership, similar to previous events. The idea is to promote tourism in Liechtenstein.
However, a possible collaboration does not imply the debut of the Principality in the ESC, which has been discussed at the beginning of the last decade but never materialized. Currently, Liechtenstein’s broadcaster, 1 FL TV, is not a member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and has no intention of becoming one.
Australia participates without having an EBU member broadcaster. However, SBS (along with ABC and FreeTV Australia) are associate members, with SBS being invited to compete due to the deep connection of the Australian public with Eurovision.
