On Tuesday, alyona alyona revealed on social media that the organization of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2024 issued a fine due to the message on her t-shirt and those of other delegation members in the green room – calling for freedom of Azovstal defenders.

The artist represented Ukraine, in a duo with Jerry Heil, achieving third place. The country’s public broadcaster, Suspilne, responded to this alleged fine by issuing a statement denying any kind of admonishment:

– So far, the public broadcaster, as a member of the EBU [European Broadcasting Union], which ensures the participation of Ukrainian representatives in the Eurovision Song Contest, has not received any complaints or fines for allegedly violating the rules”.

Suspilne also provided another assurance: “We inform that the European Broadcasting Union does not have the right to impose sanctions in case of rule violations. The artists were informed about this at the time of signing the contract. The Eurovision Song Contest openly positions itself as apolitical and asks all participants to adhere to this rule”.
