Picture: e-FestivalCOM.com Throughout the week of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2024, there have been reports of intimidation by the Israeli delegation towards other participating delegations.
RTP, the Portuguese broadcaster, was one of those reporting “events of harassment by the Israeli delegation” against members of the teams from five other countries backstage, near where the Portuguese delegation was located.
Could this lead the Portuguese public broadcaster to seek explanations about these situations? Nicolau Santos, president of the Board of Directors, admitted to RTP 3 that there is work to be done to prevent such events from happening again… and tomorrow RTP will meet:
– Well, I think this Contest deserves reflection on how it went and the various events that occurred during this Contest. And I had thought, I had already told Gonçalo MadaĂl [director of programs and member of the delegation], that on Tuesday, in Lisbon, we will have a meeting to analyze, with the people who were in Malmö, those facts that we think should be fixed, should be discussed at the Eurovision level, precisely to prevent them from happening again”.
