The process to select Spain’s representative in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC) 2022 was officially presented.

The public broadcaster RTVE revealed this Friday that the selection will consist of two stages. In the first one, an online casting will be held until September 15, followed by live auditions in Madrid, scheduled for the end of September.

The candidates will be able to send their proposals from August 16 to September 15, through a website dedicated to the purpose. They shall send a video performing any song they want and also a video performing one of the past Spanish songs in the JESC.

After that, the candidates will be evaluated by an evaluation commission, that selects the qualified participants to the live auditions. Within a maximum period of ten days, the decision will be known and presented to RTVE board – which, after that, will work with the selected candidate/s in the song.

In parallel with the process to select the artist, the one to search the song will take place. It will be internal as well.

The regulations stipulate several requirements to fullfill. We highlight: the candidates must be aged between 9 and 14 years old on December 11, 2022; to have Spanish nationality or residence (in the groups, only 50 per cent of its integrants needs to fullfill this requirement); they can’t have a record contract, or another one not allowing to explore the image and interpretations. The regulations are fully available at this link.
