Lithuania remains absent from the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC), but a comeback may happen soon ā as early as 2025.
The broadcaster LRT revealed to Eurofestivales website that it will broadcast the JESC this year and in 2024, although it won’t participate. Should there be positive audience results, they will consider competing in 2025.
Lithuania’s best result in the JESC was a third-place finish in 2008 with the song Laiminga diena by EglÄ JurgaitytÄ. The country participated in three other editions: 2007, 2010, and 2011. The withdrawal was reportedly due to the high costs associated with broadcasting the Euro 2012 and the 2012 Olympic Games. Since then, the country has not returned to the junior contest.
