There are still no certainties about the outcome of Joost Klein‘s case, the representative of the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2024. The artist was interrogated by the Swedish police, and emergency meetings are taking place this morning.
According to the NPO, the governing body of Dutch public broadcasters, a television employee filed a complaint against Joost Klein, alleging that she was threatened by the artist. The police interrogated Joost Klein on Friday night, as well as the alleged victim, and the case is now handed over to the public prosecutor who will determine what will happen… in a process that may extend over several weeks.
The fate of the Dutch participation in the ESC final is unclear. NPO boss Frederieke Leeflang arrived at the hotel in Malmö this morning and met with AVROTROS and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) about Joost Klein’s participation. AVROTROS, the participating broadcaster, said that so far they have not heard anything from the EBU.
The start of the Rest of the World online voting has been postponed while awaiting the outcome of Joost Klein’s case.
