Ireland, represented by Bambie Thug with the song Doomsday Blue, has one of the most disruptive performances at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2024 – with a stage heavily marked by witchcraft motifs.

Part of the staging plans involved hidden messages «ceasefire» and «freedom for Palestine» in the ancient alphabet Ogham on the face and leg. Bambie Thug explained in a press conference the importance of displaying them and admitted that she had to change them in the first semi-final by imposition from the organization:

– It was very important for me because I’m pro justice and pro peace. Unfortunately I had to change those messages today to «Crown the Witch» only, in order from EBU [European Broadcasting Union]”.
