Image credits: Corinne Cumming / EBU The first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2023 took place yesterday at the Liverpool Arena in Liverpool.
In addition to the 15 competitors, special guests also took to the stage. Opening the show, Julia Sanina (who is also one of the hosts) performed the song Mayak (The Hardkiss). In a commercial break, fellow host Alesha Dixon rapped with some contestants in the green reoom, about the 25 year anniversary since ESC was last held in the United Kingdom.
There were two interval acts after the competing performances: Rebecca Ferguson and Alyosha sang Welcome to Our House and Ordinary World; and the world-famous Rita Ora performed a medley of her songs.
