Stefania and Matheu Hinzen were revealed as the hosts of the Junior Songfestival 2022 – which on September 24 will select the representative of the Netherlands at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC).
Currently 19 years old, Stefania won the Junior Songfestival 2016 with the group Kisses and placed eighth in the JESC. In 2021, she represented Greece as a solo in the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) reaching tenth place.
In a statement released by AVROTROS, Stefania said: “Our music career started here. For that reason alone, it is special to be back on the Junior Songfestival stage. Very nice to now see a younger generation working their starting career, which hopefully grows into something beautiful. I can’t wait to be in Ahoy on 24 September and present these talents to the Netherlands. I’m really looking forward to it!”.
As for Matheu Hinzen, currently 16 years old, was the winner of the Junior Songfestival in 2019, taking the Netherlands to the fourth place at that year’s JESC.
Matheu stated: “It is very special and still a bit unreal that Stefania and I are going to present the Junior Songfestival together. And also an anniversary season! The Junior Songfestival has been a springboard for young talent for years. Stefania and I participated ourselves in 2016 and 2019. I am incredibly grateful to AVROTROS for giving us this opportunity”.
