Silia Kapsis has been chosen to represent Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2024. The event will take place in May in Malmö, Sweden.
At just 16 years old, Silia Kapsis is not only a singer but also an actress and TV host. She holds Australian nationality and was internally selected by the Cypriot public broadcaster, RIK. It has also been confirmed that Dimitris Kontopoulos is working on the song.
These announcements come after months of uncertainty about Cyprus’s selection method. Initially, it was defined that the talent show Fame Story would be used, but plans to co-produce it with Greece’s STAR network left the Greek broadcaster ERT unhappy, and the plans were abandoned.
This situation even led the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to announce new rules to prevent RIK from using Fame Story as a selection method.
