Controversy in Italy. This Thursday, the Italian broadcaster RAI apparently revealed the results of the country’s televote in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2024.
The rules dictate that this is not allowed, but RAI 2’s broadcast showed, at the end of the show, the alleged voting percentages that each country received. Israel, with the song Hurricane by Eden Golan, led by garnering a staggering 39.31%t of the votes.
In second place were the Netherlands (Joost Klein, Europapa) with 7.32%, a vast difference from Israel. The top three in the revealed vote was closed by Albania (Besa, TiTAN) with 6.68%.
There is currently no confirmation or denial regarding the accuracy of the results – neither from RAI nor from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). If the unauthorized publication of these results is confirmed, there may be consequences for the Italian broadcaster, but not to the extent of jeopardizing participation in any way.
