The online voting for the Rest of the World in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2024 has been delayed due to the investigation involving Joost Klein – the representative of the Netherlands.

On the voting website, it is possible to read: “The opening of the Rest of the World vote has been postponed until an ongoing investigation regarding the Dutch participant has been concluded. We apologize for the inconvenience”.

Joost Klein did not perform in the Friday afternoon general rehearsal, and he also did not perform in the Evening Preview/jury show. However, his performance in the semifinal was still aired, indicating that he was still in the competition.

However, with the voting not opening until the investigation is concluded, it is a possible indication that at least for now, all scenarios regarding the participation of the Netherlands in the final may be open.

The ongoing investigation involving the Malmö police pertains to an “incident” involving Joost Klein, the nature of which has not been officially described. The SVT broadcaster mentions a “physical confrontation” with a photographer.
