After seven years without qualifying, Georgia is back in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in 2024. The country is represented by Nutsa Buzaladze with the song Firefigther, making it to the top ten of the second semi-final.
In a press conference, the artist reacted to this qualification that hadn’t happened since 2016: “Thank you so much to everybody for believing in me so much. I love you guys, a lot, and I was feeling your energy on the stage, honestly! Thank you for making me believe that dreams really, really can come to reality. And it was my dream to see Georgia in the final after seven years. Seven years, guys. Seven years!”.
Nutsa Buzaladze then highlighted the pride for Georgia and the support she felt from her country, as well as the dedication in this participation: “I’m very happy, honestly. I’m proud of my nation, I’m proud of Georgia, I’m proud to be Georgian, and I just wanted to show you this fire that Georgians have. Like, inside of us. I was like I was going crazy on the stage because I was feeling this energy from my country and I just love my country and I want to say that when you work that hard as we worked on this number – there were a lot of people working on this number and I want to say thank you to each and everyone of them for working this hard – and when you work that hard, it always pays off. And I always believe that dreams can come true and this was my dream”.
