Norway chooses the medieval ballad of Gåte for Eurovision 2024

Another country has chosen its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2024. The final of the Melodi Grand Prix took place this Saturday at the Trondheim Spektrum in Trondheim, with the victory of Gåte, who will now represent Norway with the song Ulveham.

Alessandra, last year’s winner, performed in a sumptuous opening act, singing her winning song, Queen of Kings. The performance order of the nine participants was opened by the returning KEiiNO and closed by the irreverent Super Rob & Erika Norwich, highlighting artificial intelligence with a «robot» (Super Rob) on stage.

In contrast to the semifinals, there was a jury vote accounting for 40% of the results. KEiiNO led this jury vote with 98 points. Various former Norwegian ESC representatives, such as Alexander Rybak, TIX, or Ulrikke, then performed a medley of Eurovision hits.

The decisive moment arrived to reveal the public vote, contributing 60%. Gåte received 174 points, becoming the highest-voted act. In total, the band amassed 250 points, surpassing KEiiNO’s 245 points, securing victory in the Melodi Grand Prix. Consequently, Gåte will represent Norway in the ESC 2024.
