Sweden, the host country of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2024, kicked off its search for a representative on Saturday. The first heat of Melodifestivalen qualified two contestants for the final of the Swedish national competition.
The Malmö Arena, the venue for ESC 2024, hosted this first heat of Melodifestivalen. Six contestants took the stage, starting with Adam Woods and ending with Smash Into Pieces.
The results were determined by the audience in two voting rounds. In the first phase, Smash Into Pieces were announced as finalists, making them the winners of the heat. The remaining five contestants proceeded to a second round of votes.
After the first voting round, the A-Teens performed before the remaining results were revealed with scores based on the age groups of the voters. Lisa Ajax received the highest points and secured a spot in the final. Elisa Lindström and Adam Woods finished third and fourth, respectively, earning them a second chance in the final of the fifth heat.
