There is already a date and host city for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC) 2024. It will be on November 16 at the Caja Mágica in Madrid, the capital of Spain.
Last year, France won the event, but they passed on the opportunity to host it again, allowing another country to take the reins after being the host twice in the last three years.
Spain’s public broadcaster, RTVE, which came in second place, accepted the invitation for a year in which they celebrate the 20th anniversary of their only victory in the JESC. After some months of decision-making, it was announced on Friday, May 10th, that JESC 2024 will take place in Madrid on November 16. This marks a change from previous years, with the contest moving from Sunday to Saturday.
Martin Österdahl, the executive supervisor of JESC and the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC), said in a statement: “We’re very excited to be heading to Madrid 55 years after the Spanish capital hosted its last Eurovision event. We are looking forward to seeing RTVE’s exciting ideas to make this wonderful venue come alive, and to welcoming young artists from across Europe to Caja Mágica in November”.
