France emerged as the winner of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC) in 2023, securing its second consecutive victory. Since 2019, the previous year’s winning country has been the host, although it’s not an established rule as in the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC). However, Alexandra Redde-Amiel, the head of the French delegation, doesn’t guarantee that France will host JESC 2024.
In an interview with 20minutes.fr, the French director stated: āWe will discuss, as we always do, with the EBU [European Broadcasting Union], to find out where it would be best. There are many countries that want to organize, and we don’t want it to be a French monopoly of the Junior Eurovisionā.
When asked if these statements imply uncertainty about France hosting JESC in 2024, Alexandra Redde-Amiel replied: āWe haven’t made a decision. We need time to discuss and reflect togetherā.
France has won the JESC three times out of four editions since 2020, hosting the contest in 2021 and 2023.”
