Doubts about Israel’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2024 have been dispelled. After controversies regarding the lyrics of two proposed songs, Hurricane has been validated by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). The performer is Eden Golan.

The organization announced in a statement quoted by the BBC: “The EBU can confirm that the official submission from its Israeli Member Kan has been deemed eligible to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest in May. The Contest’s Reference Group, its governing board, made the decision to accept the song Hurricane for the upcoming competition after careful scrutiny of the lyrics. It was agreed that Hurricane met the necessary criteria for participation in accordance with the rules of the competition”.

It’s worth noting that Eden Golan was chosen by winning the most recent edition of the talent show HaKokhav HaBa. The song was an internal choice, and allegedly, Kan had two submissions rejected due to the political theme of the lyrics: October Rain and Dance Forever” The song October Rain contained references to Hamas attacks last October. It was reformulated, becoming Hurricane, which will now compete.
