Just like what had happened in the second semifinal, the Belgian broadcaster VRT interrupted the beginning of the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2024 with a message calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

The message was similar in every way, stemming from a protest by the journalists’ union. In the first few seconds of the broadcast, a message appeared on a black screen:

– This is a union action. We condemn the violation of human rights by the State of Israel. Additionally, the State of Israel is undermining press freedom. This is why we are interrupting the broadcast momentarily. #CeaseFireNow #StopGenocideNow”.

This year, Belgium participated in the ESC through the RTBF broadcaster, while in 2025, VRT will be in charge. Mustii was eliminated in the second semi-final with the song The Party’s Over.
