Image: Suspilne alyona alyona & Jerry Heil will represent Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2024. This weekend, they won Vidbir with the song Teresa & Maria.
The final was more than 24-hour long. How? All the competing and guest performances took place yesterday, February 3, but technical issues with the voting app forced to postpone the announcement of the results to today. Meanwhile, one of the contestants, SKYLERR, announced she withdrew from the competition due to the voting issues. However, the broadcaster Suspilne refused the withdrawal and kept the singer in the results.
YAKTAK opened the running order, while NAHABA were the last of the 11 contestants to perform. Special guests, including former ESC winners Jamala, Kalush Orchestra, and Ruslana (who opened the gala, followed by last year’s winners TVORCHI), also took the stage.
After the performances in the competition, and during the voting, Anastasya Dymyd performed the song Svitka that she took to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC) 2023 stage for Ukraine. She was accompanied by the songwriter, Svitlana Tarabarova, and a choir. Shortly after, Kalush Orchestra took the stage to perform the winning song of ESC 2022, Stefania.
Still before the results, Jamala performed on stage. Also Tina Karol performed tonight, before Pianoboy joined the 11 finalists in a special performance. Finally, the time came to Verka Serduchka to sing in the show.
After the technical issues were announced, the broadcast ended for the day. A new live show took place today, February 4, to announce the results.
The jury, consisting of Jamala, Verka Serduchka, and Sergii Tanchynets, accounted for 50% of the result and was the first vote to be revealed. The maximum score, 11 points, was to Ziferblat.
The audience voted to determine the remaining 50% of the result and gave the 11 points to alyona alyona & Jerry Heil. Scoring a total of 21 points, the duo won Vidbir 2024 with the song Teresa & Maria thus representing Ukraine at the ESC 2024. Ziferblat ended second with 19 points.
