Victor Vernicos will represent Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2023 with the song What They Say. The announcement came this Monday.
A selection committee from the Greek broadcaster ERT was in charge for the selection – from a shortlist of candidates that took into account the assessment of the 70-member audience committee.
At just 16 years old, Victor Vernicos will be one of the youngest contestants at ESC 2023. The song What They Say was written by himself and will be revealed at a later date.
The artist began taking piano lessons at the age of four and began with the vocal lessons at the age of eight. From the age of ten, he took guitar lessons. When he was 11, he started writing his first songs and for two years now he has been producing his own music.
In addition to Victor Vernicos, Antonia Kaouri & Maria Maragou and Melissa Mantzouis were also finalists in the selection process. This will be the first time since Sakis Rouvas in 2009 that Greece will be represented by a solo male singer.
