Finland’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2023 will be selected on February 25, in the next edition of the Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK).

The details about the Finnish event were revealed this Tuesday, exactly four months before. The tickets are already on sale, in this link.

Before the grand final, the seven competing songs will be released in January: the artists will be revealed on January 11, while the songs will be released from January 12 to 20 (one per day, except Saturday and Sunday).

The seven finalists were chosen among 363 submissions. Tapoo Hakanen, head of the UMK jury and YleX Head of Music, shown a great optimism by saying: “Expectations for this season are extraordinarily high after last year’s stunning success. The seven finalists include familiar faces and new, up-and-coming talents. We have, among others, the best dance song in the UMK history sung by an unbelievably strong new singer, a song that just oozes sexuality by a well-known artist, a heartbreakingly beautiful ballad by one of Finland’s biggest export hopefuls, well-known and up-and-coming bands, and one of the hardest rap bangers in UMK history”.
