The participants for Söngvakeppnin 2024, Iceland’s selection for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC), have been unveiled by the broadcaster RÚV, as well as their songs.
The list includes Palestinian artist Bashar Murad, whose participation had been speculated in recent days, and Hera Björk, who is making an attempt to return to the ESC.
Each semifinal will feature five songs, with two directly advancing to the final. A fifth song may be selected as a wildcard by the organizers. As in previous years, songs must be performed in Icelandic during the semifinals, but in the final, each contestant is free to choose the language, with only three songs not having an English version.
