The public will contribute to the choice of Greece’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2023. The public broadcaster ERT commits itself to involving the audience, contrary to what has happened in recent years.
ERT’s president, Konstantinos Zoulas, revealed in a ERT 1 show that there will be two selection committees: one composed of music professionals counting 49.4 percent; and another one made up of members of the audience with a weight of 50.6 percent.
According to the manager, efforts will be made to have a wide age range in the public committee. For now, a selection committe chose 30 songs out of the 106 submitted, considered to meet the standards.
Although the public will have a say in the result, the selection will be closed, without a national final: the chosen people will vote after listening to the songs on the Greek public radio venue.
