Bashar Murad, a Palestinian singer, will compete in Söngvakeppnin 2024. This is Iceland’s selection for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC).

The complete list of participants will only be revealed on January 27 by the country’s public broadcaster, RÚV. However, the same broadcaster cites the Vísir website reporting that Bashar Murad will be one of the contestants.

The artist aims to challenge the stereotype about Palestinians, and in his career, he has collaborated with members of Hatari, who represented Iceland in the ESC 2019.

Iceland’s participation in 2024 will only be decided at the end of March, due to Israel’s acceptance into the event. The final decision will be made jointly by RÚV and the winner of Söngvakeppnin.
