The list keeps growing. Newcastle is the latest city committed to hosting the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2023 in the United Kingdom.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) announced a few weeks ago that would discuss with de British broadcaster BBC the event organization – after considering that this year’s winner Ukraine isn’t able to do so.

Now, Newcastle’s city council announced the intention to bid to host ESC 2023. Speaking to Chronicle Live, the city councilor Alex Hay said: “Obviously it would be wonderful to host Eurovision and we believe that Newcastle would be a perfect host city. We are looking forward to hearing more about the bidding process and are already working with partners to explore the opportunity”.

If Newcastle bid proceeds, it’s likely that the proposal consists of Utilita Arena. Opened in 1995, the venue has a capacity for 11,000 people.
