The Ukranian public broadcaster UA:PBC has received 384 applications for Vidbir 2023, Ukraine’s selection for next years’s Eurovision Song Contest (ESC).

This Monday the number of received songs was announced. These were sent by 299 different participants. At the end of this month, a first list of candidates will be revealed.

Despite referring to 2023, Vidbir will take place later this year, on December 17 at the Kyiv Independence Square metro station – it should be noted that the metro stations have served as shelters for bombings during the war caused by Russia.

After the victory in 2022, Ukraine continues to participate in the ESC, although it’s unable to host the event due to the war. The contest will take place at Liverpool (United Kingdom), and the host broadcaster BBC promises to celebrate the Ukrainian music and culture.
