The Melodifestivalen 2023 final takes place this Saturday, featuring an international jury defining 50 percent of the results. There are eight countries in that jury. The event elects Sweden’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC).

According to the broadcaster SVT, the international jury includes Australia, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Latvia, Malta and Germany. Anders Wistbacka, project manager, said: “The international jury will bring the European perspective to Melodifestivalen. The idea is that it will help to produce a winner who has the chance to get a prominent place in the Eurovision Song Contest”.

The 12 finalists will also be voted by the public, which decides the remaining 50 percent of the results and will prevail in case of tiebreakers.
