Image credits: EBU / Nathan Reinds The 40 quarter finalists of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest (MESC) 2023 were revealed. The event will select Malta’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest.
The broadcaster TVM announced the participants this morning and there are well-known artists in the competition: Fabrizio Faniello, who represented Malta at the ESC in 2001 and 2006; Francesca Scibberas and Eliana Gomez Blanco, who participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC) for the country in 2009 and 2019, respectively.
With an expanded format, MESC will have six shows in 2023: four quarterfinals between January 13 and February 3; a semifinal on Feburary 9; and the grand final on February 11.
In each quarter-final, six of the ten competing songs will qualify for the semifinal. In that phase, there will be 24 songs remaining and 16 will qualify for the final. The results will be dictated by the public and the jury.
