This Thursday, the long list of candidates for Vidbir 2024, Ukraine’s selection for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC), was published.

Out of nearly 400 submissions, 20 performers were chosen by the UA:PBC broadcaster. Now, the artists will go through an audition process before ten finalists are determined on November 20. The public will also choose an 11th finalist from the remaining nine on the long list.

There’s previous ESC winner on the list that was released: Carpetman, who won in 2022 as part of Kalush Orchestra. MĂ©lovin represented Ukraine in the ESC 2018.

Dmytro Shurov (Pianoboy), the musical director of Vidbir, stated: “I am very happy to present you the 20 artists that will compete this year for the opportunity to represent Ukraine at Eurovision 2024! All of them are different and original but they are united by a warm heart, talent and a huge thirst for victory. I am grateful to each of them for the sincere and constructive energy they put into their songs. And I am especially grateful to everyone who did not make it to the top twenty – you made this selection possible by creating such a powerful charge. Next year will be a new story and a new chance. And today it is us”.
