The first seven finalists of the Festival da Canção 2023 are finally known. This is Portugal’s selection for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC).
The first semi-final took place tonight at the RTP studios in Lisbon, with ten contestants performing. The first to take the stage was MoYah, while Esse Povo completed the running order.
Several guests also took the stage, among them the representative of Spain at ESC 2023, Blanca Paloma – who sang her competing song, Eaea.
The first five qualified acts for the final were determined by the combination of the votes of the jury in the studio and the public: Churcky, Cláudia Pascoal, Esse Povo, Mimicat, SAL and You Can’t Win Charlie Brown. One of them was qualified by RTP due to technical problems with the televote line.
Afterwards, the public alone voted again in the remaining five participants to elect the seventh finalist: NEON SOHO.
