A possible future participation of Kosovo in the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) is still far from being a certainty, but the country’s public broadcaster will create a show that would serve as national selection: the Festivali ti Këngës.
The board of RTK agreed the creation of this new event, which will be open to Kosovar artists. The goal is that in the future it will be used to elect Kosovo’s representative at ESC.
Since the independence in 2008, the country has been trying to join the ESC. However, so far RTK has been unable to get the status of member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), a key to participate in the show.
