Image: RTP The 20 authors of the songs competing at the Festival da Canção 2024 were announced this Monday. In March of the next year, this event will select Portugal’s representative for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC).
The public broadcaster RTP invited 14 authors and selected the other six through the open submission process that ran from August 7 to October 15. The list includes both newcomers and returning artists, such as João Couto (open submission) and Mila Dores (invited).
As usual, the authors are not required to be the performers, but according to Gonçalo Madaíl from RTP said to Antena 1, it is expected that “the majority” will also be the vocalists.
