Austria’s internal selection for Eurovision 2023 will have a different format

Austria will continue to have an internal selection of its representative at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in 2023.

The newspaper Kleine Zeitung reports that 15 acts were contacted for the live castings. This stage took place on the last weekend of October and were attended by the producers Eberhard Forcher and Lukas Hillebrand.

Then, the recordings began to be shared with a jury of Austrian and foreign Eurovision experts and with ESC fan clubs in some countries.

So, it means that the Austria’s selection is now more similar to the one of its neighbour Switzerland. After the juries have decided the results, the final selection will be made by the program director, entertainment director and editors of the broadcaster ORF.
