Australia returns to an internal selection to select its representative at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2023. Eurovision – Australia Decides will not take place for the second time since it was created in 2019.

A spokesperson for the broadcaster SBS released a statement quoted by the website Aussievision which reads: “We are thrilled to confirm that Australia will once again compete in the 67th Eurovision Song Contest next year, with hosts Myf Warhurst and Joel Creasey at the helm. However, after three years of celebrating and working with local music artists through our Eurovision selection show, Eurovision – Australia Decides, we’ve made the difficult decision not to go ahead with the program in 2023”.

The same spokesperson explained that in the past months “ways have been explored” to hold the event, with several factors justifying the decision not to go ahead with it.

For now, there is still no information about who could represent Australia at ESC 2023 in Liverpool (United Kingdom).
