The controversy surrounding Aidan’s disqualification from the Malta Eurovision Song Contest (MESC) 2023 continues. The artist is fighting the decision admitting taking legal actions, trying to remain in Malta’s selection for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC).
According to the Times of Malta, Aidan’s three lawyers sent a letter to the broadcaster PBS in which they demand an immediate suspension of the disqualification and a meeting. In the missive, they even threaten with legal steps.
The singer’s representatives claim that he was singled out by PBS being the only one punished despite some other contestants incurring the same infraction. At the center of the controversy is the promotion of his participation on social media, which is prohibited at this stage of the MESC.
Aidan also alleges that he was never given the opportunity to defend himself and received no detailed explanations about the reasons for his disqualification.
