Reiley’s song, Breaking My Heart, had already been performed at a festival in South Korea last October. The rules of the Danish stipulate that songs shouldn’t be presented or performed publicly in advance withouth DR’s permission.
The Danish public broadcaster has now clarified that there are no problems with the situation, issuing a statement quoted by Ekstra Bladet that says: “The artist complies with the EBU’s [European Broadcasting Union] guidelines for the possible participation in Eurovision. As is clear from DR’s own guidelines, cases like this are matter of assessment. Based on the circumstances surrounding the individual playing of the song at a concert in South Korea in October, DR doesn’t consider that the artist has gained a competitive advantage in relation to the Danish audience and the participation in DMGP”.
