With just over a week to go until UMK 2025, Finland’s selection for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) will see adjustments to the voting method.
The weighting of the public (75%) and jury (25%) remains unchanged, but this year, viewers will be able to start voting as soon as the performances begin. This format is similar to the one used at ESC last year.
Anssi Autio, executive producer of UMK, explained the decision: “It is the Finnish voters, above all, who decide the winner and the next representative of Finland at Eurovision. By extending the voting time, we want to give voters more time to support their favorite, and we also hope to achieve the highest vote count in UMK history this year”.
The proceeds from the voting will go to a charitable cause: the money will be donated to Mieli ry, an association that supports mental health for children and young people. These funds will be used to strengthen youth mental health in schools and recreational activities.
