After the request for changes, the final version of Malta’s song for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2025 has been released.
The original title, Kant, was deemed offensive, so the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) mandated a change. The broadcaster TVM received the request with displeasure, even speaking out about censorship and discrimination, threatening legal action.
However, the changes were made, and the final version of the song has now been released, with the title changed to Serving. The word Kant was also removed from the lyrics.
Although Kant is a Maltese word meaning «Singing», its pronunciation is very similar to a highly offensive English expletive, which cannot be broadcast before 21h00 in the United Kingdom.
