

The first semi-final of Festival da Canção 2025 took place this Saturday, selecting six finalists of the Portugal’s selection for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC).
The show was held at the RTP studios in Lisbon. Ten participants performed, with Xico Gaiato opening the show and Peculiar closing the stage.
There were also guest performances. In a tribute to the 40th anniversary of the song Umbadá by Jorge Fernando, Fogo Fogo performed alongside the Orquestra das Batukadeiras de Portugal.
During the first round of voting, the studio jury and the public each accounted for 50% of the vote. The top five were selected for the final: Bluay, Jéssica Pina, JOSH, Marco Rodrigues, and Margarida Campelo.
The remaining participants went to another round of voting, but this time only from the public. The highest scorer in this phase was Peculiar, who also secured a spot in the grand final.
