«Super Saturday» season begins: Everything you need to follow today’s Eurovision selections

This Saturday will be filled with national selections for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2025, marking the first «Super Saturday» of the season.

Belgium, Slovenia, and Spain will choose their representatives tonight, while Latvia, Lithuania, and Sweden will have semi-finals, with special attention to the start of Melodifestivalen in Sweden.

  • Format: Heat with nine participants, with votes from the public and the jury (each counting for 50%). The top two advance to the final.
  • Additional details: The show was recorded earlier in the week and is now being broadcast. Nombeko Augustė will perform as a guest, singing her song Vaikštai per mane.

Slovenia – EMA 2025, Final: 20h00, TV SLO 1

  • Format: 12 participating songs. The first round of voting has results 100% decided by the jury. The top two vote-getters advance to the super-final, where the public decides the winner.

  • Format: The contestants perform in a single round, with the results decided solely by the public. The top two qualify for the final, while the third and fourth go to the «final qual», a kind of second-chance round that will take place within the heat 5 show.
  • Additional details: As is traditional, Melodifestivalen will visit several Swedish cities. The first heat will take place in Luleå. In this heat, an ex-ESC participant is competing: John Lundvik, who represented Sweden in 2019. Käärija and Hooja are confirmed as interval acts, performing their new song San Francisco Boy.
