Sanremo Festival 2025 has started; here’s the first Top 5 Picture source: Screen capture RAI

The 2025 edition of the Sanremo Festival kicked off this Tuesday. The 29 contestants took the stage of the Teatro Ariston for the first time, debuting their songs.

Gaia was the first to perform, while The Kollors were the last. Several renowned artists are participating, including some returning stars like Francesca Michielin (Italy’s representative in ESC 2016), Francesco Gabbani (winner in 2017 and Italy’s representative in 2017), and Massimo Ranieri (winner in 1988 and Italy’s representative in 1971 and 1973).

Achille Lauro, who represented San Marino in 2022, is also competing with a very different style this time around.

Although no one is eliminated, results started to accumulate from this first night, where votes came from the press room, TV, and the web. However, only the top five were revealed, in random order and without details. The first five were Achille Lauro, Brunori Sas, Giorgia, Lucio Corsi, and Simone Cristicchi.

Tomorrow and Thursday, in the second and third nights, half of the contestants will perform each night, and voting will be done by the public via televote.

The winner of the Sanremo Festival has the right to defend Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2025.
