Impressive numbers for Germany’s selection process for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2025. A total of 3,281 applications were submitted during the submission period, which ended yesterday (November 28).
Chefsache ESC 2025 – Wer singt für Deutschland? is the new national final format. It’s the highest number of candidates for a German ESC selection since 2010.
The applicants include both established artists and emerging talents, spanning various musical genres and ages (the oldest is 83 years old). A total of 1,198 musicians submitted an original song, and around 20% of the submissions come from bands.
Raab Entertainment is producing Chefsache ESC 2025 for ARD and RTL. Stefan Raab and his jury will select the best acts in three live shows on February 14, 15, and 22, with multiple rounds and song categories. The live finale will take place on March 1, where the public will decide the winner. Barbara Schöneberger will host the shows.
