Picture source: Screen capture RAI Olly was the winner of the Sanremo Festival 2025, and as such, has the right to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC). However, he has not yet decided whether he will do so.
At a press conference on Sunday, the performer of Balorda nostalgia clarified that he needs time to make a decision about the ESC:
– I didn’t think about the possibility [of winning], I need to digest what has happened to me. If there is the possibility of having time to make such an important decision, then I ask for it. In any case, it is obviously an incredible honor to have this opportunity; it’s a huge event”.
Claudio Fasulo, one of the directors of RAI, then mentioned that there is a deadline for Olly to decide: “I think Olly deserves a week to decide, because the last 12 hours have been quite hectic”.
If Olly does not accept the right to represent Italy at ESC, RAI will have to grant it to the contestant who accepts and is the highest-ranked from the Sanremo Festival 2025.
