Lucio Corsi will be Italy’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2025. This Saturday, Olly confirmed that he is giving up on this right, which was granted to him after winning the Sanremo Festival.
The performer of the song Balorda nostalgia announced his decision on social media: “I’ve been reflecting these past days and asking for everyone’s opinion, and the answer is always the same: «In the end, do what feels right for you». […]. Well, I don’t think anyone would be upset if I moved the concerts for Eurovision, but I truly feel the need to connect with everything that’s happening before I look ahead, before continuing with my beloved live shows […]. I decided to give up the opportunity to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest, understanding that it’s something that may only happen once in a lifetime. […]. For me, this decision is my way of listening to myself and maybe also my twisted way of saying thank you. Some will say I’m giving up a dream, but I believe I’ve chosen to live with this on my own terms”.
Meanwhile, RAI has already confirmed Lucio Corsi as Italy’s representative. The artist finished second in the Sanremo Festival with the song Volevo essere un duro. This is the first time since 2016 that the Sanremo winner will not participate in the ESC. The last time this happened, it was the second-place finisher who represented Italy: Francesca Michielin.
