Claude will represent the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2025. He was chosen internally by the broadcaster AVROTROS. The song’s release date has not been announced yet.
The 21-year-old singer was one of 331 performers to apply. The choice was made by a selection committee composed of Carolien Boegers, Cornald Maas, Hila Noorzai, Jaap Reesema, Jacqueline Govaert, and Sander Lantinga.
The panel justified the election of Claude: “As a selection committee, this year we have opted for a meaningful, connecting and hit-sensitive song with an international image image that can effortlessly win the hearts of young and old Eurovision viewers”.
In 2022, Claude’s debut single Ladada (Mon Dernier Mot) was an immediate success, with 57 million streams. The Luso-French version of the song was successful in several other countries and was in the top ten in Italy, and the song Layla further propelled him internationally.
He quickly won the 3FM Award for Best Newcomer and was also named Best Artist of the Year by Qmusic. This year, the young artist released his first album and was the Ambassador for Freedom, as well as going on tour in the Netherlands and Belgium with his band.
In a statement, Claude commented: “I’m so honored to represent the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest next year, and I still can’t believe it. I’m really excited about this and can’t wait to let Europe hear the song”.
