The Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2025 will have, for the first time, a mascot, which has now been revealed: Lumo.
The host broadcaster, SRG SSR, challenged the Basel Academy of Art and Design FHNW and the Basel School of Design to create the design, receiving 36 proposals. The most voted design was Lumo, created by Lynn Bruuner – a 20-year-old student from the Basel Academy of Art and Design, studying Visual Communication (Graphic Design).
The mascot’s name comes from the word «Luminous», and is described as “more than just a character – it’s the beating heart of Eurovision 2025, a living symbol of the magic of music and of the Eurovision slogan «United By Music»”, as well as embodying “the unstoppable power of music”.
The description also says: “Its untamed curly hair blazes like flames, dancing wildly to the beat and reflecting the electrifying euphoria of Eurovision. With its bright colours, it illustrates the heat of emotions […]. Its big bright eyes, mouth poised to burst into song, and its expressive hands make Lumo a joyous ambassador of musical diversity and togetherness. As a gender-neutral and universal figure, Lumo represents unity and openness by bringing people of all ages and backgrounds together through the power of music”.
