Picture source: Instagram @mamagama_official In 2025, for the first time in history, Azerbaijan will send a band to the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC). Mamagama have been announced as the country’s representatives.
The band is a fusion trio that combines rock, pop, and elements of traditional Azerbaijani music, formed in 2021. The band consists of vocalist Asaf, Huss on guitar, and Arif on drums. The band’s name has a meaningful significance: the unstoppable power of “Mama” [mother] and “Gama,” the complete sound spectrum.
Asaf said, as quoted by the official ESC website: “ItIt’s an honour for me to be representing Azerbaijan on such a big stage with our culture. I deeply love the land where I was born, and this is a chance to share its beauty and spirit with all of Europe”.
The song’s release date is still unknown, but the artist spoke about what to expect: “Our song, which will be revealed very soon, is a true representation of our country’s essence. We are incredibly excited and believe that our entry will leave a lasting impact”.
