It seems that there is already a solution for Malta to modify its song for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2025, Kant. The performer is Miriana Conte.

The word «Kant» in Maltese means «Singing», but its pronunciation, which closely resembles a serious English swear word («C**t»), led the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to demand changes to validate the lyrics.

Malta’s broadcaster, PBS, accused the EBU of censorship and discrimination against the Maltese language. The Minister of Culture, Owen Bonnici, even spoke of a potential legal action in Switzerland. However, the country eventually caved in and introduced the modifications.

According to the website Times of Malta, which cites sources close to the country’s delegation, the word «Kant» will be replaced by «Conte» – precisely the surname of the performer, Miriana Conte. The deadline for submitting the revised version is March 10th, this Monday.
